Job Overview
This position consists of working with a person who has an impairment related disability (essentially functioning as a pair of hands for someone who has limited use of his own), who is also the owner/operator of this Supportive Living Service Agency, Dr. Wayne C. Downey, SLS. Under supervised direction and guidance, Direct Support Professionals will enable Dr. Downey to live independently with daily living tasks, function in the workforce, run his self-care business, as well as aid him in the care of his service animal, Fuchsia III. It is important that Direct Support Professionals are willing to work as a team with other staff, be open to new ideas, and extremely flexible.

Work Location: In-Person (Santa Rosa, CA)

Responsibilities

You will need to utilize skills of assistance and acceptance of task delegation, while at times acting as Dr. Downey’s “hands”, and other times completing tasks independently. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), includes all Personal Care tasks

• Shopping

• Document Maintenance

• Meal Prepping and Feeding

• Transportation

• All Service Animal Related Tasks (Fuchsia III)

• Assisting Dr. Downey with ADLs in Public Spaces, Professional Events, etc.

Skills

• Experience in healthcare care or caregiving roles is REQUIRED.

• Experience driving large vehicles or wheelchair converted vans is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of patient observation techniques to monitor health status effectively.

• Ability to perform ADLs in a compassionate manner.

• Strong communication skills.

• Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the living/office space.

• A positive, low-key attitude and a genuine desire to help others lead fulfilling lives.

Job Requirements

• Care Providing Experience

• Valid CA Driver's License, Insurance, and clean Driving Record

• Flexibility of Availability for any Shift, regardless of Weekends or Holidays: AM (8:00am-2pm), MID (2:00pm-8:00pm), PM (8:00pm-8:00am)

• Ability to pass Background Check and Fingerprinting

• No Smokers (due to Wayne’s medical conditions)

Work Hours

Since this is a 24-hour business, Direct Support Professionals must be willing to work the following shifts, regardless of Weekends or Holidays: AM (8:00am-2pm), MID (2:00pm-8:00pm), PM (8:00pm-8:00am)

Pay Rate starts at $24.00/hr or more, depending on experience.
