Dr. Wayne C. Downey is a Supportive Living Services company that provides healthcare for the Owner/Operator of the company, Dr. Wayne C. Downey and his Service Dog, Fuchsia III, allowing them both to live safely and independently at home. Employees work 1-on-1 with Dr. Downey completing any and all Activities of Daily Living to ensure Dr. Downey is provided a safe, sanitary home environment.

Dr. Wayne C. Downey, SLS is contracted with the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services via North Bay Regional Center and In-Home Supportive Services of Sonoma County, along with being registered with the city of Santa Rosa, CA.

About Dr. Wayne C. Downey

Dr. Wayne C. Downey is the Owner/Operator of this Supportive Living Services that provides Care Providing Services solely for himself and his Service Dog, Fuchsia III in Santa Rosa, CA.

Dr. Downey is a Southern California native, but has lived and worked in Sonoma County for the past 40 years. Dr. Downey gained his undergraduate/postgraduate education at Sonoma State University, while gaining his doctorate education in Education at Fielding Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara.

In 2014, Dr. Downey decided he was extremely dissatisfied with the care he was finding through other Supportive Living Services, Residential Care Homes and Assisted Living Facilities, so he decided to contract with North Bay Regional Center and In-Home Supportive Services of Sonoma County to establish his own Supportive Living Services to provide care for himself.

Dr. Downey currently serves the Santa Rosa, CA community with his positions as:

  • President of the Board for Disability Services and Legal Center, Santa Rosa

  • Vice-Chair of the Housing Authority for the City of Santa Rosa

  • Chair of the Sonoma County IHSS Public Authority Advisory Committee

Role of Support Staff

  • The role of Direct Support Professionals are to provide 24/7, 1-on-1 support to Dr. Downey and his service dog, Fuchsia III. This includes Dr. Downey’s ADLs, documentation maintenance, and on-call task assistance.

  • The role of the Driver is to transport Dr. Downey and/or other DSPs to and from appointments, either personal or professional.

  • The role of the Healthcare Administrator is to oversee and manage Dr. Downey’s personal health and life, this company, as well as in-person staff.
